Well, 20% about Advanced Squad Leader ain't bad......in fact we think this episode is downright good. We let the Letters dictate the ASL content of most of this episode, and cover a potpourri of interesting and arcane topics. You won't want to miss the discussion of some Irish beverages or the book reviews of The Angry Hills and With the Old Breed. Jeff is unable to remove his critics hat and continues with a review of the MGM film Attack! Dave just can't stop with the Red Barricades info and covers the footnotes to RB Chapter O.

That was an interesting episode. MASH did an episode that talked about the struggles of the Korean War in a documentary/narrative form with Alan Alda doing most of the narrating. It was a sharp diversion from their comedy approach to a dark topic. Your episode reminded me of that. I think it is great that you feel comfortable enough to turn the ASL topic 90 degrees and look at it again.

Great episode. Nice change of pace. +1 Interesting and +1 Informative. No dull reactions to this one....
ReplyDeleteConfused as usual in Sunny LA, Matt
-RETRACTION-
ReplyDeleteDon't know if Jeff listened to the last 5 minutes but Dave snuck in a lengthy monologue. Sorry boys- that last bit earns you a 'DULL!'
Keep up the dull work gentlemen :>

I love this podcast and am working my way up chronologically through all of the episodes. I just finished listening to episode 87, and I have to agree with the person who wrote in to listener mail in the previous episode, which is: one of the greatest things about this show (besides the fact that it is 85.6% dedicated to the greatest game in the world - ASL) is the banter between Jeff and Dave. You two are a great team, and the two of you bring the game to life on this podcast for an audience that includes some who might not otherwise encounter ASL. So..... please keep up the banter (and avoid monologues). Also, yes, keep listener mail. And keep "The Typewriter" intro music with that segment. Roll low!
