Happy New Year! We welcome in 2016 with a look at the 2nd Edition of The Scenario Designer's Handbook by Michael Dorosh. It is quite the impressive collection of information to help you design you own ASL scenario or simply to use as a reference guide for many aspects of the world's greatest game. Not content with one What's in the Box?, we also examine Journal 3 -- the first half anyway -- another bursting trove of articles, scenarios, and tips.
You say that's not enough ASL for you, Bunky? Well . . .
. . . for some hardcore Advanced Squad Leader stuff you can join Dave and Tom as they play and dissect (to the best of their limited abilities) ASL Scenario G41 Jabo!
Game on bros and gros.

Great podcast as always. I really enjoyed checking out the pics at Cardboard Warriors. Good stuff!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for the review. Always enjoy each episode - moreso now that I have a new car with a hard drive where I can store them and listen while driving.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to meeting you both at Mayhem in Manila! Thanks for the mention! 8-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the brilliant SKIT and the links!!
ReplyDeleteI should probably mention that Mister Humphries is looking for someone to audition the 99 virgins for Mayhem in Manila ..

Great job. Loved the HP song.
ReplyDeleteRe your review of Journal 3, the list of scenarios with airpower on page 21 is incorrect. It includes "In Sight of the Volga" and "The Battle for Rome"; these do not have air support.
ReplyDeleteIn your replay of Jabo, you said something like "the vehicles cannot be concealed". Note that the vehicles start concealed and stay concealed because there are no American ground units (SSR 6). If the vehicle is moving in the open, it is not considered concealed so the -2 DRM does not apply to the Sighting TC. However, there is no right of inspection for the concealed units so the American player cannot choose what vehicle to attack.
ReplyDeleteThanks for responding to a listener request (Jabo! AAR). Also thanks for the reference to the cartoon The Iron Comes Back.
