This is the episode in which we prove we are not averse to the bizarre. We open with some general chatter and then dive into a few fascinating letters, both the email and the call-in kind. Share our excitement as we open Action Pack 12 - Oktoberfest XXX and explore the board and the scenarios therein. Can you ever have too many Action Packs?....mmm maybe. Either way, there does seem to be a plethora of new Advanced Squad Leader products hitting the market this year, like Poland in Flames, Yanks, AP's, WO's, ASL Journal 11, and oh, so many more, that we will be quite busy in 2016 here in the podcast foxhole. We hope you will join us.

hey guys likn to War College not working
ReplyDeleteShould be fixed. Thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteDearest 2 Half-Squads... I don't believe the exception is referring to an AFV's ability to move up a staircase in a factory, but rather than they can NOT move in a factory if it is a stairwell hex. Tracked vehicles cannot drive up stairs... That's what elevators are for.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, good episode. Jeff was on fire with the rules questions. He may have battle-hardened to first line troop -- if he wasn't already. Unless he cheated ...
ReplyDeleteYou guys make me happy. I don't have a clue what you are talking about half the time but I love the mystery. Keep on rocking.
ReplyDeleteGood humor in this episode.
ReplyDeleteAs a matter of fact, our group plays with IIFT almost exclusively for decades, unless teaching SK. And I know some other groups in the same town are playing IIFT as well.
Scientifically the game should be affected and thus play balance might change slightly if people play in the same way as IFT, but we don't care. We just play and have fun.
It seems that the game balances itself since the players adapt to the fire table change with tactic change. For example, MGs are used more and thus pins the enemy more. The opponents would then move more carefully to counter this effect.
Another example is 337 are used more independently. Less tendency to group them up to form 6FP FG.
I hope this makes sense to you.

A Pink Level counter is Level 3. A Red Level counter is a Rooftop. A vehicle may enter a friendly-controlled Factory Location with a printed stairwell symbol at Open Ground costs - stairwell represents a vehicle sized entrance (B23.742). It's a Bog Check Dice Roll (not die roll).
ReplyDeleteIf 6 cdr, AFV falls into a cellar and Crew rolls for Crew Survival.
Indirect Fire on a building is +1 DRM (not TEM) for each non-rooftop level above it, although this may be a distinction without a difference.
